How Do I...

To answer this question, we first need to distinguish between physical education and physical activity.
The terms physical education and physical activity are often used interchangeably, but they differ in important ways. Understanding the differences between the two is critical to understanding why both contribute to the development of healthy and active youths. Every student needs both a quality PE program and physical activity program.
Physical education instructional programs provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to establish and sustain physical activity as a key component of their lifestyle, as children, adolescents, and adults. PE instruction provides students with essential skills and knowledge through a broadly-based curriculum that is age-appropriate and links learning experiences in a sequential and articulated manner.
Physical activity is any bodily movement that is produced by the contraction of skeletal muscle and that substantially increases energy expenditure, including exercise, sport, dance, and other movement forms.
For Education, our Apex course includes 5 units of instruction on the effects of physical activity upon dynamic health and the mechanics of body movement.
For Activity, our students are required to complete Activity Logs which document 200 minutes of physical activity per each 5 days, and no less than 400 minutes of physical activity for each 10 days. (EC Section 51222[a])

The first time you fail a quiz, you are given one more chance to pass it. If you fail it a second time, the system blocks you from moving forward without teacher intervention.
- Go back through the Study section for the failed quiz and take additional notes.
- Complete the additional notes in the Outline or Cornell Notes format (*see below).
- Add the document link from these additional notes to the top of your Study Guide for this section.
- If this course does not have Study Guides, add the document link for these additional notes to the original notes for this section.
- If there are no original notes, check with your teacher on how to submit these "additional" notes.
- If there is a Reading Guide before the quiz (English courses), you need to complete that as well.
- Email your COURSE teacher after making sure the Study Guide (and Reading Guide, if applicable) and additional notes for the failed quiz section are completed.
A. In the subject line of the email message, type BLOCKED QUIZ - PLUS the name of the course, sem #, and the quiz #.
Example: BLOCKED QUIZ - ENGLISH 3, sem 2, #3.1.4
B. Make sure your Study Guide (and Reading Guide, if applicable) and additional notes for that Study section are in your Unit Notes folder. If they are not, your quiz will not be reset.
Completing these steps is important for your teacher to help you in a timely manner.
